How to Use a Whole-Body Shampoo Bar

Here's how to use a shampoo bar for your hair, body, and face.

Lathering foam on hair, face, and body - Japanese model

Washing Hair with a Shampoo Bar

First, here's the basic process for washing your hair:

A person washing their hair by directly rubbing TANE onto wet hair
  1. Pre-wash for 30 seconds: Rinse scalp dirt with warm water.
  2. Rub the shampoo bar directly onto wet hair about 3 times in a circular motion.
  3. Gently massage your scalp to lather and wash your entire hair.

For those concerned about squeaky hair: "3 tips" that make a difference

If you're concerned about your hair feeling squeaky after washing, try these tips first:

  1. Pre-wash for 30 seconds (Thoroughly wetting the scalp helps create a stable lather.)
  2. Apply directly by rubbing "scalp → ends" and wash the scalp gently and thoroughly.
  3. On days when your hair feels squeaky after rinsing, try a "30-second foam pack."
Wrap your hair in foam and leave it for 30 seconds before rinsing to help it settle down.

SAKI Oil Serum - dispensed into hand amidst steam

For those who still experience squeakiness: Recommended for the transition period

  • We recommend using SAKI Oil Serum in conjunction.
SAKI Oil Serum is a fermented oil serum that you can keep in the bathroom and use on both wet skin and hair.

  • During the transition period until you get used to the shampoo bar, it's fine to use your existing conditioner/treatment in conjunction.

For those with long hair who experience tangling

  • When rinsing, gently detangle with your fingers to prevent tangling.
  • If tangling is still a concern, we recommend gently loosening your scalp with a shampoo brush before rinsing.
*The area behind the ears can get stiff, so a light massage with comfortable pressure can help you feel refreshed.

Washing Body with a Shampoo Bar

Next, here's how to wash your body:

  1. Wet a body towel or shower puff, then rub the shampoo bar onto it about 3 times in a circular motion to create a lather (crumpling it helps create foam easily).
  2. Gently wash your entire body without scrubbing vigorously.

Washing Face with a Shampoo Bar

Finally, here's how to wash your face:

  1. Wet your hands or a foaming net for face washing, apply the shampoo bar, and lather.
  2. Gently spread the foam onto your face.
  3. Without scrubbing vigorously, lightly apply the foam to dirt as if caressing, then rinse with water or lukewarm water.

While you can create enough lather with your hands even without a foaming net, using a net is recommended because it helps you lather more quickly.

CHANT offers face foaming nets in the following gift boxes:

Also, unlike regular soap, shampoo bars contain well-blended beauty ingredients, so some people feel that applying a foam pack to their face and entire body provides a more moisturizing effect (individual results may vary).
If you're wearing heavy makeup with long-lasting products, be sure to remove your makeup beforehand.

Effective Hot Pack

A valued customer of CHANT's shampoo bar shared a hot pack technique, saying,
"When I used it this way, my hair became stronger and stronger, and my hairdresser complimented me."

How to do a hot pack with a shampoo bar

  1. Wet a towel large enough to wrap around your hair.
  2. Wring out the towel.
  3. Heat it in the microwave for about 30 seconds (be careful not to overheat).
  4. Wrap the warmed towel around your hair while it's still covered in shampoo bar lather.
  5. Leave it as a pack while you soak in the bathtub for a while.
  6. Remove the towel, rinse your hair, and dry it.

We've received happy reports like, "When I tried this, even though my hair is bleached, my hairdresser said it wasn't damaged at all."
Please give it a try when you have some extra time!

Shampoo bar integration steps

When it gets thin from use, press it firmly like a rice ball onto the back of a new bar immediately after use. It will be stuck together and integrated by the next day.
