How TANE Was Made

Hello, I'm the representative of CHANT.
The inspiration for CHANT's shampoo bar "TANE" came from my son.
Difficult Days with My Son

My son suffered from seborrheic eczema since he was a newborn.
By the time he started crawling, he had atopic dermatitis.
It was truly heartbreaking to see him constantly itching.
Every time he took a bath, he would cry, saying it stung.
His skin was scratched raw and bleeding.
He would throw tantrums.
During school plays, he was the only child constantly scratching his neck.
I was heartbroken every day, thinking, "He wants to do it right, but he can't because of the itch."
At school,
"Is it contagious?"
My child was hurt by this question.
"I wish I could take his place! I want to do something to help him!"
That was my sole thought.
I even moved to a rural area searching for a renowned dermatologist for atopic dermatitis.
I visited hot springs rumored to be effective for atopic dermatitis.
And I tried every over-the-counter cleanser for atopic dermatitis that I knew of.
Despite all this, his condition didn't improve, and I worried every day.
Encountering Shampoo Bars

Around that time, a friend from America told me about something called
"shampoo bars."
Shampoo bars are made with completely different ingredients than ordinary soap.
At the time, they were hard to find in Japan, so, desperate for any solution, I decided to try making them myself.
Making Shampoo Bars by Hand

I thoroughly researched shampoo bars from overseas, learning about their making process, ingredients, anti-inflammatory components, and types of surfactants.
Based on that knowledge, I made my first handmade shampoo bar.
After much trial and error, I developed TANE, an unscented and uncolored shampoo bar made with camellia oil and camellia seeds, which help soothe inflammation.
TANE, with Carefully Selected Ingredients

Just as calcium from small fish is more easily absorbed by the Japanese body than calcium from milk,
I felt that "traditional Japanese ingredients" would be more effective and better suited for the Japanese body.
Therefore, I chose "tsubaki" (camellia), which has been used for skin and hair care since the Heian period, as the main ingredient.
Experiencing TANE's Effects

I immediately felt the effects of TANE when my son stopped itching after taking a bath.
Every time he took a bath, he would itch and scratch himself raw → then use moisturizers and medicine → then take another bath and scratch himself raw again...
I saw a glimmer of hope, like we had stepped out of that endless negative cycle where his skin never had time to heal.
After one month of continuous use, the areas that were constantly scratched raw and bleeding had significantly reduced.
I remember a drastic decrease in the amount of bandages and plasters we used daily.

Reason for Commercialization
For a long time, TANE was something I made and used at home.
At the time, I never even considered selling it, but at the urging of family and friends,
"It might help others who are struggling just like us!"
I decided to commercialize it.
Live a Healthy Life with TANE

Thanks to your support, the shampoo bar "TANE" is now loved by an unimaginable number of people compared to when it was first launched.
Initially, people I met tried it, liked it, and bought it. Now, I receive joyful feedback from customers who purchase it through our online shop, and I truly feel that commercializing it was the right decision.
